A great find- Mukteshwar, Uttrakhand

A great find- Mukteshwar, Uttrakhand

Mukteshwar:

Mukteshwar is a small town in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, India. It sits high in the Kumaon Hills at the distance of 72 km from Haldwani, and 343 km from Delhi. It can be reached within 8 hrs from the capital. The untouched beauty of Mukteshwar made us fall for it. It is non-commercialized but it is advanced enough to offer you everything you will need while staying here.

Oak Chalet, Mukteshwar

It is a quiet little guest house in Mukteshwar with an admirable panoramic view of the hills. The rooms are warm and comfortable with big clean washrooms. The guest house is 10-mins walk from the road where you can park your vehicle. It can only be reached by foot, and trust me you will admire the walk every time you will go through it. It is advisable to book the place at least a month before as it has only 4 rooms. There is a little dinning area in the guest house with a private library that has a lot of books related to travelling, it was a feast for us.
Tariff is Rs.2200/- per person including all meals.

BEST TIME TO VISIT MUKTESHWAR:

We went in the month of September, it was quiet pleasant. It did rain one morning, but it was all clear by afternoon. In fact it turned greener after the rain as if the place has been washed. Mukteshwar is an all year destination. We have heard that some snow can be seen here in the winters.

THINGS TO DO IN MUKTESHWAR:

– Mukteshwar Temple, is a temple of lord shiva. It is a very peaceful temple with not much crowd and has a charming view of the Himalayas.
– Chauli Ki Jali (Sunset Point) It is 10mins walk from the temple. Don’t miss on this one.
– The local cafes; we went to Gehna Café and Nirvana organic Café for evening tea and snacks. There are few more local cafes in the area around that can be tried.
– PWD guest house, we went here because it was advised by the local people. It is nothing much but a well maintained guest house with a fine collection of flowers and delightful view of the Himalayas.
