A 1500km Road trip with Family to Rajasthan

A 1500km Road trip with Family to Rajasthan

If Game of Thrones was to shoot in India, I don’t think there is a better place than Rajasthan. I went to the road trip to Rajasthan for my parents 25th Anniversary.

So here is the itinerary we followed:

Delhi – Ajmer (390 km)

Ajmer – Pushkar (15 km)

Pushkar – Chittorgarh (207 km)

Chittorgarh – Udaipur (117 km)

Udaipur – Jaipur (419 km)

Jaipur – Delhi (260 km)

It was a week long holiday for us.

Where to Stay in Rajasthan:

Rajasthan is a tourist destination so there will be no trouble in finding a place. You can look for it on any bookings website.

* Ajmer: We all are aware of Dargah, Ajmer Sharif. It is too crowded anytime, any week, any day of the year. But it’s a must visit. The sense of calmness you will feel in between that crowd cannot be felt anywhere else. Also, there is Ajmer Jain Temple, its a one time visit too.

* Pushkar: I can write endlessly about this place. To my surprise, it is one and only Hippiest place of Rajasthan. You can find Muchi-pagdi wale uncles to a group of photographers here. Of course, most of them are chilling holding chillum or pipe.

Sit by the ghats at night and check the serenity of this place. basically, forget yourself in midst of ghats.

* Chittorgarh: This city is famous for the largest fort in India, the Chittorgarh fort. And also, many Mughal stories are related to this place of wars, weddings, sacrifice and all that can fascinate a history lover. I am not one of them so yeah, google the rest.

* Udaipur: The city of lakes in Rajasthan. This royal land has 5 lakes that make it one of the most beautiful destinations of India. Also, while you are here, you can get the best view of the sunset from Monsoon Palace. A number of tourists and especially photographers gather here to get a glimpse.

*Jaipur: Capital and largest city of Rajasthan. Besides visiting Hawa Mahal, Johari Bazaar, City palace, Chokhi Dhani Resort, do visit Amber fort and catch the Light show here and you will be awestruck.

Best time to visit Rajasthan :

October to March as it stays extremely hot rest of the year.

Rajasthani food is so delicious that you can visit here just for the sake of delicious Rajasthani cuisine. Do try the food at any local Rajasthani hotel for the real taste. Natraj Lodge, Udaipur particularly is famous for their local Thaalis.

Thank you for stopping by. Hope we helped you in finalizing you r next road trip. Happy Traveling. Cheers!
